Life in 2020
Mixed media. Size 124cm x 74cm I think it has been important to visually document this year. I have a feeling that it proves to be a meaningful year in many ways. Personally and collectively.

Naapuruus- ja rakkaustalkoot/Love Your Neighbour Project, August-September 2020
A project funded by the European Social Fund and the Finnish Cultural Foundation. It was a part of the international AMASS (Actin on the Margins: Arts as Social Sculpture) project as well. Here, the fundamental idea of the project was the city as our best possible common home. My job was to plan and lead an open for everyone community art based workshop. So for a week everyone joined made heart stickers that were spread across Rovaniemi. Some stickers turned to postcards and were sent to other countries involved in the AMASS project. Cute as hell. Thank you project leader and organizer Pieta Koskenniemi, artist Leena Pukki and all parties involved.
Desert
A commission started last fall is done. Size approx. 10 m x 3 m The commissioner wanted a desert and a rider on a horse. We talked a lot throughout the process. Among the topics were deserts of Arizona, Spaghetti Westerns, American cars, Clint Eastwood, travelling and motorcycles. Comic books like Lucky Luke and Tex Willer came strongly to my mind. Moebius and his landscapes were an inspiration too. I think all the mentioned just mixed and transformed and took a visual form that came out to be this. In any case I want to say thank you Ismo for this experience. Your hospitality and your mentality in life are things to look up to.
